National Spotlight

Who are you running for? — Join in the fight against breast cancer by running a full or half marathon through Marathon for the Cure™

Rally for the Cure — Golf, tennis, dinner events and so much more...

A brand to trust — We are honored that Susan G. Komen for the Cure® ranked number one in a recent Harris Interactive poll as the most valued non-profit brand and the charity people are most likely to donate money to. Additionally, Komen for the Cure ranked second on the 2010 list of the nation’s most trusted charities. Thank you to all who help us daily in the fight to end breast cancer!

WELCOME

Summer is here, and preparation for the 14th Annual Charlotte Race for the Cure is in full swing! Race day is quickly approaching, and we are working hard to ensure a positive experience for all participants, and a memorable celebration for all of our wonderful Survivors.

Race registration is up and running, a full two months earlier than in years past! If you haven’t registered yet, we encourage you to go ahead and do so.

2010 is quickly becoming a year of many “firsts” for the Charlotte Affiliate. As we hope you know, we are welcoming The UPS Stores as our presenting sponsor. They are already actively involved, and have currently registered over 40 employees to be a part of their Race Day team. It is great to have a sponsor that is so eager to be a part of Race Day!

We have also started making small, but significant changes to help us turn Komen green! Don’t worry – we will always continue to “think pink,” but we are taking steps to make our daily office activities, Race promotions, and Race Day activities more eco-friendly. In the future, we will be detailing these changes on our website, so keep your eyes peeled for announcements & changes.

Our promotional materials for this year’s Race have undergone a drastic change, putting the face of the Survivor out front. To help spread the message that breast cancer does not discriminate according to age, race, or family history, we have selected four local Survivors to feature. We hope that you will enjoy seeing the faces of local Survivors in the coming months, and that these women’s stories will help us save more lives by spreading the message of early detection.
