The service area for the Charlotte Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® covers nine counties, including Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, Union, NC and York, SC. The grant year for the Charlotte Affiliate runs from April 1-March 31. Applications, which were due January 13, 2012, were accepted from US nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies and educational institutions in the service area.
The Independent Review Panel, consisting of community members, health professionals and experienced grant reviewers, are assessing the 2012/13 grant applications. Applications were accepted for community-based breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment projects for the medically underserved in our nine-county service area. Grant awards will be made by April 1, 2012.
